The Tree of Life

Smiles Through Art is honored to have had the opportunity to partner with ETTA, a Los Angeles organization that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Smiles Through Art assisted ETTA in creating an art program for adolescents and children with autism, Down syndrome and related conditions.

The “Tree of Life” project consisted in assembling fabric in shapes of leaves and trunks to create art that celebrates and encourages caring for nature, in conjunction with the Jewish Tu B’Shvat holiday. Tu B’Shvat, or “new year for the trees” is an annual celebration of trees and the natural environment.

The “Tree of Life” art project showcased the symbolic connection between earth and heaven. The colorful leaves celebrate life and love for the environment.

Hearts of Nature

They also created hearts that were made with different beans and seeds like corn and lentils, they composed the hearts with different patterns representing the connection with the nature and earth like patterns in nature.
