Peace Begins with a Smile…
Wood Fans

Smiles Through Art created an arts in healthcare program that consisted in three different Art categories with 3 different organizations:

2- Women And Girls Hospital.
​Hospital de la Mujer.
Mexico City, DF. 

Women and girls with different health conditions, painted colorful Wood Fans with the general theme of “Peace”.
Diverse Symbols of peace were used for the representation like flowers, hearts, doves and peace symbols. 

The Project was inspired by different women in history:

- Golda Meir: 
“ The only alternative to war is peace, and the only road to peace is negotiations.”

-  Eleanor Roosevelt:
” It isn’t enough to talk about peace, One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.”

Arts in healthcare programs like STA are extremely necessary to encourage, strengthen and support the role the women have in our world. 
Some of the women that attend this hospital face situations like rape or abuse among others…
Smiles Through Art partnered with Jewish Women Volunteers in Mexico City and created the art program to help woman in need.
