Art for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Smiles Through Art was pleased to participate in an Art Program with TLC Therapeutic Living Centers For The Blind, a Southern California Organization for the Developmental Disabilities located in Reseda, California.

TLC works with visually impaired and blind individuals.

Smiles Through Art developed an Art Program called “The Power of Love” which involved creating tactile puzzles that included Braille Systems and Three-Dimensional Pieces.

The Program featured shapes of hearts made from sponges, metal and foam, designed to provide a learning and tactile experience in addition to colorful paint.

As part of the arts in health program, we listened to music that inspired and relaxes the mind, including songs like “The Power of Love”. By Celine Dion.

We also read and discussed love poems, such as: “I choose you, and I’ll choose you over and over and over, without pause, without a doubt. In a heartbeat, I’ll keep choosing you.” By Raven Steele.

Smiles  Through Art provides its services to organizations in the US and Mexico, creating arts in healthcare programs that heal minds, increase self-esteem and creativity, and improve positive health outcomes.
