Art with Puzzles:
Flowers of Faith
May is Mental Health Month.
Smiles Through Art was pleased to create and implement an art program for ETTA, a Los Angeles Jewish organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The program consisted of simple jigsaw puzzles called the “Flowers of Faith,” in celebration of the coming Jewish holiday, Shavuot.
Smiles Through Art provides its services to both Jewish and secular organizations. The flowers remind us of when the Israelites arrived at the base of Mount Sinai to receive the Torah and they found blooming flowers that represent faith.
As part of our program, adolescents and young adults with disabilities painted flower images and created puzzles. Puzzles are great stress relievers. They help with mindful meditations that relax the mind, and they increase problem solving skills.
Programs in Arts in healthcare are necessary for improving the well-being and creating positive minds.
It brings joy and healing to adolescents and adults with different health conditions.
